PARISH COUNCIL BUDGET:
PARISH PRECEPT FROZEN AGAIN -
AND NO CUTS IN SERVICES OR FACILITIES

Added: 13th February 2014

For the fourth successive year councillors in Greasley have been able to freeze the parish precept.

"The parish council has a long history of sound financial management and I am particularly pleased in these difficult times that we have been able to continue this tradition," said Finance and General Purposes Committee Chairman Cllr Bob Willimott.

By returning a "no increase" budget it means residents of a typical Band D property in Greasley will pay council tax of just £49.86p a year for parish purposes - equivalent to 96p per week.

Cllr Willimott said the budget had been achieved partially through the use of reserves. Even so, the Council had completed a full programme of works and no services had been reduced.

Access improvements to the Beauvale recreation ground had been made and similar work was planned for a footpath across the Greenhills Road open space to be linked in to a new footbridge to be provided by Nottinghamshire County Council. New notice boards had also been erected around the parish.

At the parish council owned Greasley Sports and Community Centre a refurbishment programme was continuing. Electrical works had been completed with plumbing, heating and building works next on the schedule. Whilst the gym continued to be popular the centre is increasingly being used for community purposes from breast cancer screening and blood donor sessions to indoor bowls and model car racing.

As part of a long term objective to build community spirit in the parish the council had given its full support to the Greasley Gathering and to a Christmas event. "Greasley is fortunate in having a number of active community groups and we try and help them in a variety of ways, added Cllr Willimott.

WEBSITE:
A Very Happy New Year!

Added: 15th January 2014

A very happy New Year to all Greasley parishioners. To kick the new year off, we've decided to add a new 'lick of paint' to our website.

You will notice a few cosmetic changes to the site, and our home page has been revamped in order to bring you instantly up to date with our latest news articles and also allow us to better promote any important announcements or events such as the Greasley Gathering event (on that note, you might be pleased to know that preparations are now well underway for the 2014 Greasley Gathering!).

Furthermore, you can now navigate your way back to the home page instantly with ease by clicking the Greasley Parish Council logo in the top left-hand corner of all pages on the site.

Additionally, you may now notice that the left-hand navigational menu has been removed from the home page in order to give us a little bit more breathing space for content there. However, you can still navigate your way around the site using the shortcut menu below the masthead on the home page, or the site links in the footer area of the home page. The left-hand navigational menu has been retained throughout the rest of the pages on the site.

We've also added a content slider feature towards the top of our home page to draw your attention to features on the site or other things of particular importance.

We hope you will enjoy these changes and new features.
